It was great to meet with you this morning!  We are so excited for you all as you prepare to move on to new adventures.  😊

Hello Grade 12’s,

We have started preparing for the 2026-2027 school year and we need your help with it.  😊

Please log into your myBlueprint account, myblueprint.ca/ucdsb, and select the “Not returning next year?” link.  Enter your plans and press submit.

https://app.myblueprint.ca/?sdid=ucdsb

Alternatively, if you would like to return for another semester to CPHS, then you need to stop by the guidance office for a conversation.  Before doing so, look at the attached course offering sheet and have in mind what courses you want to request and why you want to return.  Please know that ‘not knowing’ what’s next after high school is not a great reason to return; we usually recommend trying something new is the best way to help find direction.

We hope second semester has begun well,

Mrs. Anderson, Mme. Day and Ms. Shaw

Hello,

The Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) will be hosting a drop-in style open house for prospective students who wish to register for academic accommodations at the post-secondary level. Students and their families are welcome to stop by to learn more about our services and register early for the upcoming fall term.

Students with a current IEP may wish to bring a copy along with primary disability documentation to the event. These documents will help with the registration process and identifying what academic accommodations and support services best meet the needs of the student.

Please share this registration link with your students - https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cal-open-house-winter-2026-tickets-1980022955962?aff=oddtdtcreator

Fri., Jan 23, 2026

Hello Grads,

Algonquin College has shared some disappointing news.  Please read the update below:

As you may have heard, Algonquin College is recommending the suspension of 30 academic programs, effective Fall 2026 to its Board of Governors at the February 23, 2026 meeting. If approved by the Board, no new learners will be admitted to these programs starting Fall 2026. This decision will not impact learners currently enrolled in these programs or those admitted for the Spring 2026 term. For those who have applied or been accepted into these programs for Fall 2026, additional information will be made available following the Board decision.
If you have students who have applied to only one program that has been recommended for suspension, they may wish to consider adding additional programs to their application prior to February 1. Programs added before February 1 will be considered equally. Any programs added to an application after February 1 are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The recommendation to suspend these programs was made after careful consideration and extensive efforts to address ongoing operational challenges. Recent changes in federal policy and provincial funding models, along with the need to ensure financial sustainability, were key factors.
Frequently asked questions have been prepared to provide further background on the financial realities Algonquin College is facing as well as additional information pertaining to program suspensions.

We recognize there are many of you that have applied to Algonquin College.  Please read through the list of suspended programs.  If the program you applied to is on this list, then come to guidance before February 1st and we can assist you in adding in an additional program to your application.  We can also connect you with an Algonquin College recruiter if you have more questions.

Take care,
Mrs. Anderson, Mme. Day and Ms. Shaw

Please take a moment to fill out the survey now so that you don’t forget!

Payment of your Grad Fee (which also covers the cost of your gown/hat & tassel) will not be due until early April, so don’t let not having the Grad Fee now stop you from filling this out.

Hi again Grads,

Here is another place to look for scholarships.....there are lots of scholarships available to search this month. 🙂

Mrs. A

-------------
Hi

With the holiday break approaching, we wanted to share a list of scholarships currently available and those that will be available over the break. There are over 1,200 awards totalling over $5,600,000 in value in these awards.

Not all awards will apply to all students. Students should create a profile on ScholarTree to get a list customized to them and weekly email reminders of deadlines. Students can use the "Applications Open" filter only to see those scholarships currently accepting applications at the top left of their scholarship list. As a reminder, ScholarTree has always been and will continue to be 100% free to students. We generate revenue by charging Scholarship Providers to host their scholarships on our site.

Have a great day,

Hello Graduating Bears,

This program is new to me, but I thought it would be worthwhile to share;  Guidance from current university student mentors on university applications, essays, scholarships and more is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of.  If you do choose to reach out to this organization, I would love to hear about your experience and determine if it's worth sharing with future CPHS graduating classes too.

Check out the details below.

Bridge to Campus  a student-led, non-profit organization that helps high school students across Canada build connections with university students, as they prepare for the transition to post-secondary education.

Since the launch of the organization, they have been able to pair mentees from Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and beyond with mentors who share personalized advice on applications, scholarships, campus life, and career pathways.

Our Services (All free of charge)

  1. 1-on-1 Mentorship: Your students would be paired with a university mentor who provides tailored guidance and support on university applications, admission essays and ask any questions that they may have. This year, our mentors will be from McGill University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and Queen's University. This service is completely online, and meetings are conducted through platforms such as Zoom.
  2. Themed Webinars: Interactive panels with current university students covering topics such as university applications, choosing the right program, financial aid, dorm selection and more.
  3. Essay Review Service: Online essay review service where your students have the opportunity to submit their scholarship essay to be peer-reviewed by our pool of mentors across the university students we work with.

We understand the importance of protecting students’ privacy and ensuring safe online interactions, so we have created a Privacy Policy, which outlines the measures we take to safeguard high school students participating in our services. This includes strict guidelines for mentor–mentee communication, protocols to protect student information, as well as procedures to be in place in case of mistreatment.

You can learn more about the organization at www.bridgetocampus.net

Take care,

Mrs. Anderson
