There are many sources which offer scholarships and bursaries to graduating students.

Scholarships and Bursaries Available

Brenda Hall Memorial Bursary

The Brenda Hall Memorial Bursary was established in memory of a former Carleton Place High School student who became a nurse and practiced her profession at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital.

The recipient of this bursary will be someone who is entering the first year of a nursing or medical sciences program (or related medical area) and has demonstrated financial need. The 2020 bursary will be awarded to one (1) Carleton Place High School student and one (1) Notre Dame Catholic High School student for $1,000 each.

Applicants must provide documentation of acceptance into their program in order to qualify for the bursary. Notification and the first installment of the award will be presented at high school’s commencement and it will be announced on social media in July 2020. Click the link below for an application.

OPP Youth Foundation $1000 Bursary

For each OPP Region in Ontario, the OPP Youth Foundation will provide 2 (two) bursaries, each valued at $1,000.  The Bursaries are to be awarded to students graduating from a secondary school in Ontario to support their attendance at a university, college or apprenticeship type program.

Naismith Basketball Association Scholarship 2020

The Naismith Basketball Association is offering one (1) opportunity for a student from Almonte District High School, or Carleton Place High School, or Notre Dame High School in Carleton Place, to receive a one-time award of $1,000 to go towards their first year of post-secondary education.

The award will be given to the graduating student who best represents the values that Dr. James Naismith brought to the game 125 years ago - fairness, excellence, inclusion and fun!  The award is only available to students who have been involved in some way with Naismith Basketball during their primary and/or secondary school years (a player, a volunteer, a referee, or a Jr coach).

2020 Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary - MVFN


The deadline for applications to the Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary is May 1, 2020.

MVFN offers one or more bursaries of $1,000 to graduating high school students who will pursue post-secondary studies in a field related to the natural environment.

Nelson Scholarships 

There are two scholarships offered through the Nelson Scholarship Program. Students may only apply for one of the two opportunities.

1) Civic Leadership Scholarship; Award - $10,000

2) Indigenous Student Scholarship; Award - $10,000
