Hello Grads and Guardians,

Many graduating students have stopped by the guidance office this past week asking about scholarship opportunities and where to find them.  Along with the three websites I shared at the Grade 12 Post-Secondary Information night, I regularly get updates from the Student Scholarships group.  Here is the most recent update that will link you to their website with lots of Scholarships to search through.  Remember, this is a bit of work, but if you can earn a scholarship, it pays you in the long term.

Good luck,

Mrs. Anderson

Hello Grads,

Hopefully you are appreciating the many scholarship opportunities we share with you from the guidance office.

This one is the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award.  This award provides university scholarships to students who exemplify the humanitarian ideals of Terry Fox by volunteering and giving back to their communities.

Eligibility Criteria

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities.

To be considered for the Award, applicants must be:

  • In good academic standing.
  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school
  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
  • Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.

Terry Fox Award Recipients are eligible to receive the Award until they graduate with their first university degree or diploma (for a maximum of four years), provided they maintain satisfactory academic standing and a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.

Value

The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years. A stipend of $7,000 is issued directly to the institution each year in two installments of $3,500, one in September and one in January.

Deadline to apply is December 1st 2025.

For more information and how to apply check out the website www.terryfoxawards.ca

Good luck as you begin your scholarship search, and application process.

Tues., Sept 9, 2025
Hello Grads,

ScholarTree is back for another year of helping graduating students find scholarships. Over the summer, they have added over $2,800,000 in new scholarships to their database.

A handful of the larger scholarships are available right at the start of the school year, so we encourage students to start looking and apply immediately.

Here are a couple of significant scholarships that are available now.  The CPHS Guidance office will be sending out more details about some of these soon.

Have a great day,

Mrs. Anderson, Mme. Day and Ms. Shaw

Hello Graduating Bears,

The guidance office will be sending out Scholarship opportunities on a regular basis.  It will be important to check your emails from Mme. Day, Ms. Shaw and myself and read them fully.  These will also be posted on our school website (give us a few days to update it 🙂 )

Here is the first of many Scholarship opportunities;  this one is for graduating students who may be thinking about becoming a mechanic.  Please read below and see the attached flyer for more information.

Jake Weitz Memorial Scholarship

In 2025, we awarded $10,000 in scholarships, and we are excited to continue investing in future mechanics across Canada. The Jake Weitz Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to support Canadian High School graduates pursuing a career in the trades, specifically in mechanics.

This scholarship was created to honor my son, Jake Weitz, a young man whose love for mechanics was matched only by his generosity and willingness to help others. We aim to carry his legacy forward by supporting students in the field of mechanics (automotive, heavy duty, agriculture, and aviation mechanics).

Attached to this email is a printable poster-style flyer.

Warmest Regards,

Vanessa Weitz
