CPHS hosted a Virtual Open House, focused primarily for Grade 8 students going into Grade 9 in September 2022. 

This presentation included remarks from our administrative team, information on the great programs here at CPHS, and an overview from Guidance about course selections.

For students going into grade 9:

Course selections will be completed electronically this year in two stages.

  1. Students currently in grade 8 homerooms have already had a virtual visit from Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Anderson to go over courses, diploma requirements, and how to complete the digital course selection form (via Microsoft Forms). Students have been asked to complete their form with a parent/guardian.
  2. The guidance counsellors will visit grade 8 homerooms again on Feb. 9 and 10 to assist student in entering their course selections into myBlueprint.

For students going into grade 10, 11, or 12:

Students who will be going into grade 10, grade 11, or grade 12 should refer to the appropriate course reference sheet to see which courses are available for next year.  All students have received an email (via their student account) with instructions, and with an invitation to a virtual information session to assist them in this process. At each virtual meeting, the guidance counsellors will go over all the courses on offer and how to enter their choices into myBlueprint.

Following each of these presentations, myBlueprint will be enabled and students will have the opportunity to enter and submit their choices.

Once they have chosen all their compulsory and elective courses in myBlueprint, they are asked to print the submission page, have it approved and signed by a parent/guardian, and then bring it to the Guidance Office. Alternatively, the submission page can be saved as a .pdf file (Lastname_Firstname) and emailed to Guidance ([email protected]) by a parent/guardian.

Student Services - Secondary

Guidance Counsellors provide assistance in the following areas:

  • Course selection and planning; including opportunities in our SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR COURSES (Construction, Health & Wellness, Sports, Arts & Culture), COOP and Dual Credits
  • Help for students experiencing academic difficulty;
  • Information concerning post-secondary programs;
  • Help in researching and planning realistic career choices;
  • Assistance with personal problems;
  • Referrals to outside agencies.
  • Registering students in e-Learning Courses
  • Transitions programming 

A variety of books and pamphlets on career education can be found in the Guidance Office. Inquiries regarding Guidance Services should be directed to the Guidance Office at 613-257-2720, ext. 406. 

Student Services - Intermediate

Administration, classroom teachers, LRCs and our School Support Partner can help with the following:

  • Help for students experiencing academic difficulty;
  • Information concerning secondary programs;
  • Assistance with personal problems;
  • Referrals to outside agencies;
  • Development of accommodated or modified educational plans;
  • Transitions programming.
